Issac Knight is one of six children born to the late Plantation workers Arthur and Mabel Knight of Tallahassee, Florida where he was born.

He is happily married to Lillie Denmark-Knight. He is the father of 2 children Cedric and Tiffany. He also has one daughter-in-law, Keri and one grandchild a girl, Sydney.

Issac (sometimes called IKE) became a Highwaymen and painter almost inadvertently. He initially got his start by being a seller of Alfred Hair and Al Black's paintings.

After being mentored by  Al Black, his brother in law, he began painting about 1968. He still maintained his full time job, which would only allow him to paint on evenings and late into the nights. This allowed him to have the opportunity to go out on Saturdays (sometimes Sundays ) and sell paintings. On some occasions he would travel as far as Gainesville, Florida and back in one day and as far south as Miami, Florida.

In his early days, Ike struggled with self perfection. On certain instances, he would paint a paint and be dissatisfied with his finish. By sure fate when he would go out on weekend these, "un-perfected paintings",  seemed to be the first paintings to sell. After about 2 years experience he became better and began to perfect the art he loved.

Issac's is best known for his scenery and landscape paintings. But he has painted some (very few) still life. Ike continued to sell paintings well into the mid to late 1970's. In the 1980's he painted only on certain occasions i.e.. wedding, house warming, and Christmas gifts.

His work is admired so much that if someone come to his home and see one on the wall they would just buy it right from the wall. The only way his wife could keep one was to finally have him paint a mural on a small portion of her living room wall.

In the early 1990's, Ike retired from his full time job at Northrop Grumman Aerospace  and painted for about one year. However, due to personal circumstance he decided to work full time again and painted only on request. But once again years later he has retired and again picked up the paintbrush and is painting like never before. He enjoys it so much because he can paint and express himself through painting sceneries of what he sees as he ride around the city and as he travel during his retirement.

Issac looks forward to the mornings to begin his painting now or as he ride around the city looking for material to use. He said so much of the material can not be found now that was used in the early 70's. But just preparing for his day of painting is just as exciting as if he was actually painting that moment.

Ike is quoted as saying, ". . . painting is the one thing enjoy doing, except playing with his first grandchild, Sydney."
